LEWISTON – Michael Owen of Auburn ‘crossed the bar’ on Dec. 22, 2022.
Born in Wales, U.K., as Terence Michael Thomas, he was adopted at an early age by Trevor and Edna (Proud) Owen. He served in the Royal Navy as a medic for 25 years. During the Falkland War, Mike served on the HMS Antelope and survived the bombing that destroyed his ship.
After retiring from the Navy, he spent several years as a five-star chef, cooking in France, Germany, Italy and England. He was an avid reader, artist and musician, playing guitar and teaching himself to play the piano.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Feeley; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and mother-in-law; also his former wife (Maria); six children, Daniel, Beth, Rachel, Phillip, Naomi, Jessica; several grandchildren; and extended family and many friends in the U.S. and U.K.
