FARMINGTON — Rustic Elegance, located at 259 Farmington Falls Rd in Farmington, will be hosting a crafting event called the Snowman “AND ME” Workshop on Feb. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The workshop will be geared toward kids accompanied by an adult but is open to all ages. According to owner Tricia Johnston, guests will have two options to participate. The first option is a 12″ snowman with a birdhouse, which is a simpler project for children and will cost $25.
The second option will be an 18″ snowman with birds and a ribbon scarf for $35. Spots are limited and registration is needed, so Johnson encourages all who are interested to reach out to her through [email protected] or through her Facebook page, Rustic Elegance Custom Décor.
“We will add a second session if needed,” Johnson stated.
The event is the first of many that Johnson has up her sleeve for the year. After taking a short break for the holidays, she is ready to host more fun activities that are kid friendly.
“We take a short break after the holiday to regroup, plan and reset the boutique,” she said. “So, this will be the kickoff project for workshops. We try to make sure we have workshops that can include kids as there are not a lot of options in our area.”
Previous workshops that Johnson has hosted have featured activities such as scarecrow and snowman porch leaners, buffalo check backgrounds, door hangers and a “YOU CHOOSE” workshop where participants can each be doing a different project at the same time.
“We are able to customize so that plays a large role in the workshops,” Johnson added. “We also hold many fundraisers for local organizations and kid’s sports teams.”
After this workshop, Johnson estimates their next big workshop will be in late February or early March.
“We are working on a schedule. We typically have two to three per month, if not more. We offer private workshops as well for family and friends to get together, kids parties, and team building for businesses.”
Currently, Rustic Elegance has an adjusted winter schedule, which is Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. between January to March. Regular hours are from Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
