BOWDOIN 86, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 77: Michael Simonds scored 18 points and James McGowan had 17 as the Polar Bears (7-10) cruised past the Beavers (9-7) at Farmington.
Xander Werkman chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds. Alex Halpern added 13 points and seven assists.
Terion Moss had 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals for UMF. Jack Kane added 15 points and eight rebounds.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
VERMONT 61, MAINE 52: Vermont held a 37-23 scoring advantage in the second half and rallied for a victory over the University of Maine in an American East game on Wednesday at The Pit in Orono.
Anna Olson had 21 points and Delaney Richason added 17 for the Catamounts (13-6, 5-2 America East), who handed the Black Bears their first conference loss of the season.
For Maine (8-9, 4-1) Anna Simon scored 17 points while Adrianna Smith added 13 points and seven rebounds.
(6) INDIANA 83, (21) ILLINOIS 72: Mackenzie Holmes scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Grace Berger added 18 points to lead Indiana (17-1, 7-1 Big Ten) over Illinois (15-4, 5-3) at Champaign, Illinois.
Holmes, a Gorham High grad, hit six of seven shots and scored 14 points in the third quarter as the Hoosiers shot 68.4% for the period after trailing the Illini for most of the first half.
