SABATTUS — Donald E. Howe, 73, of Webster Corner Road, died at his home on Saturday, July 23.
He was born in Biddeford on May 28, 1938, the son of Myron and Jeannette Howe. He grew up and attended schools in Biddeford and later moved to Lewiston to work for L.R. Dupuis & Son Moving Co. and worked there for 20 years. He later worked for W.S. Libby for 7 years until he was forced to retire due to work-related injury.
He enjoyed playing cards with family and loved his dog Lassie. He took great pride in keeping his car cleaned and waxed. In the last years of his life his wife of 35 years took great pride in taking care of Don. He held onto life until the end with a lot of suffering. Now you may rest in peace my love.
He leaves his wife, Shirley Howe, of Sabattus; his four children, David Howe (Penny) of Freeport, Nichol Slaven of Middlebury, Ind., John Howe (Kelly) of Brownville and Larry Howe and companion (Ron) of S. Portland; his sisters, Pat Roberts (Robert) of Brooks, Sandra Buzzle of Dudley, Ga., and Nancy Kindler of Epping, N.H.; his brothers, Bob Howe (Judy) of Des Moines, Iowa and Paul Howe (Rita) of Biddeford; step-son Michael Cote (Ella) of Turner; and many grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Bouchard.
The family wishes to thank his hospice nurse Michelle for the good care and for his pain control and his special nurse Lisa Ewing whom he cared for very much. And also Bob and Nancy Alward for helping Don out through his illness.
