To the Editor:
The Rotary Club of Bethel is excited to announce that we have increased our scholarship budget for 2023 to $10,000 in anticipation of making larger education awards to graduating seniors. We have also made the significant decision to dedicate a portion of these funds to students who wish to pursue skilled trade careers. Our club has actively supported students in the community for many years with both traditional and non-traditional funding for higher education. This year, Bethel Rotarians made it clear that they are dedicated to helping all students succeed in a broader range of studies including everything from culinary school to carpentry to medical science. The traditional Rotary Club scholarship application is posted on our club website at bethelrotary.org under the news tab. Last year, we asked all applicants to submit a 1-page email to our club with details about their intended course of study including information about their record of community service and volunteer activities. The Rotary Club of Bethel is actively working with other organizations and donors in the community to better coordinate our assistance and also to make sure that every student who wants to pursue higher education in any field can achieve that goal. The Rotary Club email application is open to all students who reside in the SAD #44 region, including those attending Telstar High School and Gould Academy, as well as those who are attending other secondary schools authorized by our Superintendent of Schools. This includes and may not be limited to Oxford Hills, Mountain Valley, Hebron Academy, and home-schooled students. Scholarship email requests should be submitted by May 1 to Dr. Kevin Finley at tkfccf@yahoo.com. Students can also submit email requests to info@bethelrotary.org.
