FARMINGTON — Doris V. Jackson, 96, of West Farmington passed on peacefully at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington on Sunday, July 24.
She was born in Industry on May 5, 1915, the daughter of Maurice E. and Mona A. (Luce) Oliver. She was a very active person and her outgoing personality filled her life with many friends, both young and old. For many years she raised poodles and Lhasa apsos. The state of Maine appointed her as an animal welfare officer receiving highest honors for years of hard and dedicated work. Doris served as a member of the first board of directors at the Franklin County Animal Shelter. She enjoyed reading her bible and attending a variety of churches in the area.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Jackson Dubord and her husband, Larry, of Farmington; two grandchildren, Julee Daoust of Farmington, and Cerrita Grant and her husband, Robert, of Hollis, N.H.; her great-grandsons, Ian, Alec, and Liam; there are also many nephews and nieces; her nephew, Richard Jackson and his wife, Jeannie, were particularly close to her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Jackson, of Farmington; a sister, Phyllis Boles; and her mother and father.
