JAY — A Boothbay woman was injured Saturday night after the all-terrain vehicle she was driving went down a 15-foot embankment near French Falls Recreation Area.
Brenda Artzer, 65, was driving a 2011 Honda ATV about 7 p.m. and had gone on another trail after leaving the Whistle-Stop Trail, Maine Warden Kris MacCabe said Monday.
She was in the area visiting her son, who was also on an ATV, MacCabe said.
The trail turned rough, and Artzer decided to turn around. She backed up and the ATV ended up going down the embankment and rolling twice before landing on top of her, he said.
Artzer received a laceration to her head that required stitches and bruises on her body, MacCabe said.
She was lucky that she only received minor injuries, MacCabe said.
Jay police and firefighters and NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance assisted at the accident.
Artzer was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, MacCabe said.
