Ronald Alfred Wells
PARIS – Ronald Alfred Wells, a longtime resident of Andover, Maine passed away peacefully on Jan. 28, 2023. He was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Millis, Mass., and was the son of the late Alfred and Lillian (de Etoile) Wells. He grew up on the shores of Pleasant Pond and later graduated from Casco High School in 1954. Ronald served in the Air National Guard from 1958-1964.
Ron was employed by AT&T and Comsat at the Andover Earth Station, where he worked as an Electronics Technician, (Technical Engineer) until his retirement. He later formed Matron Service Company, serving businesses and townspeople by repairing starters and alternators. His knowledge of all things mechanical helped many and he was always willing to lend a hand or to bend an ear to educate others in all things mechanical.
He enjoyed spending time at Flagstaff Lake in Stratton, Maine and exploring the coast of Maine.
In his later years he spent time visiting with friends in Andover where he may read to someone who could no longer see, have a friendly conversation, or stop by to check in on someone.
Ron is survived by his wife, Madeline of 43 years, his son Danny and wife Michelle of Rumford, son Darryl of Andover, daughter Diana Jackson, and husband Scott of Georgia, daughter Darlene DaSilva of Georgia; stepdaughter Jackie Gammon of Andover and stepdaughter Tracy Rainey and husband Jeff of Andover; grandchildren, Tiana Wells, Kaitlyn Blaney, Charity Jackson, Matthew DaSilva, Ashley Dasilva, Step grandchildren Joshua and wife Mikaela Rainey, Jacob and fiancé Madison (Heinzen) Rainey, great-grandchildren Isiah, Autumn and Kamrynn, nephew Gary Wells, and niece Nancy Smith.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Lillian, brother Quentin, “Carter” Wells, sister Lois Oliver, grandson Cameron Blaney and nephew Alan.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Market Square Memory Care unit for the care and compassion that Ron received while a resident there.
