AUBURN — The Androscoggin Valley Board of REALTORS® has announced its 11th annual Affordable Housing Golf Tournament to raise funds for housing assistance to organizations that provide housing in Androscoggin County. This year’s tournament will benefit Rebuilding Together Lewiston Auburn.
The tournament will take place at the Martindale Country Club on Thursday, Aug. 4. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m. Organizers expect 36 golf teams to participate at a cost of $400 a team.
Coffee, doughnuts and sandwiches will be available. There will also be awards, a 19th hole banquet, a silent auction and door prizes.
Rebuilding Together focuses on the issues of home ownership, the elderly, the disabled, families with children, health care and the federal deficit. By identifying the challenges associated with the issues, the group works to create sustainable solutions for the low-income homeowners it serves.
Since 2002 when the Lewiston/Auburn chapter was established by John Scott Johnson, a Bates student and the son of the founder of the national nonprofit organization, the organization has maintained a mission of making necessary repairs for safety as well as improvements for the beautification and preservation of homes for more than 40 families in the Lewiston/Auburn area.
