LEWISTON — The Rockin’ Recons and 13-year-old musician/songwriter Carter Veilleux have joined the lineup of performers for the “Dance Party Under the Stars” on Saturday, Aug. 13, atop the new parking garage at Lincoln and Main streets.
Also scheduled to entertain are the L/A Lads with their Beatles medleys and Nick Knowlton.
The evening of music, dancing, food and beautiful views “up on the roof” of the garage is being presented by Modern Woodmen of America as a benefit for Museum L-A and the Franco-American Heritage Center.
The fundraiser will take place from 7 to 11 p.m.
The Rockin’ Recons will sing their new original releases, “L.A.” and “Laura Lee,” both written by veteran music producer Harry King, who says Museum L-A’s 2009 “Echoes in Time” was an inspiration for “L.A.”
“Eddie (Boucher) came to me and said the Rockin’ Recons needed some original material,” King said. “I thought of the museum’s concert and all the people who were there. The people of Lewiston are so nice. They should have a song of their own. I’ve worked in and out of Lewiston for many years. This is my home away from home (Texas). I really love L-A.”
Veilleux, who goes by the name Carter Isaac when performing, will sing his original song, “It’s My Prayer,” about his experiences with bullying. Veilleux, who plays piano, saxophone and guitar, performs and works with Jim Mayer, bass player of Jimmy Buffet’s band. He has recorded “It’s My Prayer” as well as another original, “Peace Song.”
“Dance Party Under the Stars” is for adults 21 and older. Tickets are $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door.
