LEWISTON — James E. Goulding Sr., 81, of 17 Goulding Lane, Danville died Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 12, 1930, a son of the late Fred and Emma Pike Goulding. He worked in forestry and sawmill industry for more than 30 years prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, tinkering with his truck and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James will be remembered for his quick wit, extraordinary memory and his dedication to helping family and friends who appreciated it.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Catherine L. Gray of Mechanic Falls, whom he married Aug. 18, 1951; two sons, James E. Goulding Jr. and wife, Joan, of Auburn and Fred E. Goulding and wife, Ann, of Sumner; grandchildren and their spouses, Catherine Bouchard and Donald, James E. Goulding III and Angeliec, Levi D. Poland and fiancee, Courtney Woodward and Nickolas R. Poland and fiancee, Christina Wheeler; three great-grandchildren, Kristina J. Bickford, 9-years-old, Avery E. Goulding, 10-years-old and and Eli James Poland, 2 years-old; and two brothers-in-law, Glen Gray and wife, Gloria, of Norway and Louis Gray and wife, Carlene, of Poland.

He was also predeceased by a sister, Cedelle Sanborn; and a brother, Fred Chester Goulding.
