‘Dead Brother, Will You Walk with Me Through the Fire?’ is a poem about an act of violence that casts a long shadow, cataloging a conversation between a 29-year-old and his dead best friend. Though difficult to put into words, the poem acts as a memorial following the death of Bolduc’s cousin, aunt, and uncle in 2008. It explores grief in the wake of tragedy, and how it shapes the lives of those left behind.

Jonny Bolduc describes himself as a weird poet and storyteller from the deep woods of Maine. Bolduc says he grew up to normal parents in a normal house with a dog and a swimming pool but somehow turned into the dark, sad poet he is today. His first book, Everything is Changing, Everything is Getting Worse, was released in 2017, followed by DAWNDARK in 2018 and the Witch: Part One, the first in a series of short stories regarding people with the power to usher others into a kind death.
