OQUOSSOC — To mark the Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum’s first anniversary, the Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society has announced that well-known watercolorist David B. Tibbetts will offer a number of his original artwork and limited edition prints at auction at the Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum.
Since opening its doors on Aug. 14, 2010, almost 5,000 people have visited the highly acclaimed museum which chronicles the region’s rich outdoor sporting history and traditions.
Beginning on Friday, Aug. 12, Tibbetts’s watercolors and prints will be on exhibit for silent bidding. The auction will conclude on Sunday, Aug. 14, with a live auction at 5 p.m. in Oquossoc. In addition Dave will be available to sign copies of his most recent book, “A Journey on the End of a Fly Rod,” in which he asks and answers the question, “Am I a fisherman who loves to paint, or a watercolorist who loves to fish? I am both — and it is a joy. I fish and paint the rivers, ponds and woodlands and pen the never ending poems of my journey.” Selected artwork from his book will be included in the auction.
The Rangeley Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum is located at the corner of routes 17 and 4 in the center of the village of Oquossoc, and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through August. For more information call 864-3091.
