The disease which has been spreading throughout New Auburn for the past few weeks among the young children causing nearly a dozen deaths claimed two more victims yesterday. A new case was also reported last night although it is hoped that the case will not prove fatal.
One of Auburn’s most prominent physicians said last evening that although he had had but a few cases, he did not consider it alarming. He said that he called it cholera infantum and that it was brought on by impure milk.
50 years ago, 1961
Steel Service Center president Frank Heltz Jr., of Winthrop, said last night that construction of the firm’s new building in Lewiston is expected to start within a week.
The ground breaking is pending on the approval by Building Inspector Charles Buteau of plans for the building received yesterday by Heltz. Also needing approval by the building inspector are the concrete foundation plans.

The Lewiston School Committee Monday interviewed four finalists for the vacant high school principal position, including two present principals and two assistants.
Superintendent Robert V. Connors said after more than three hours of closed session interviews that no timetable for hiring a principal has been set. The committee discussed in closed session late Monday whether to invite candidates back for follow-up interviews.
