FARMINGTON — Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties is set to host an evening of poetry reading at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in celebration of this year’s poetry contest winners.
The event will be held in The Forum auditorium at Mt. Blue High School, 129 Seamon Road.
Contest winners will read from their work. All members of the community are invited to bring a favorite poem to read.
Light refreshments will be served.
“One of the most beautiful aspects of this contest is the ability to see what is moving through a collective mind and moving through the community — after all, it is a community project,” said Laine Kuehn, contest judge, according to a news release from Barbara Averill with Literacy Volunteers.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
