BRUNSWICK — Studio 48 Performing Arts Center will present “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown,” a musical based on the beloved comic strip “Peanuts,” on Aug. 18-20 and Aug. 25-27.
The show opened on March 7, 1967, and played for 1,597 performances in New York at the theater 80 St. Marks with Gary Burghoff in the title role. This version was briefly revised on Broadway in 1971, playing for only 32 performances at the John Golden Theater.
A new revival version was presented on Broadway in 1999, playing for 149 shows at the Ambassador Theater with award-winning performances by Roger Bart and Kristin Chenoweth as Snoopy and Sally.
Playing Charlie Brown at Studio 48 PAC is Vincent Ratsavong of Turner, former choreographer, dance instructor and director for Studio 48 and New England Regional Theater Company. Ratsavong will attend Dean College in Franklin, Mass., this fall. Playing Sally is Kristin Korda of Saco, former Maine’s Outstanding Teen, who is moving to Boston to pursue a career in contemporary singing.
Lucy is portrayed by Jamie Lee Richardson, a Maine National Guard member and a returning musical theater student at the University of Southern Maine. Tyler Beck, also a Maine National Guard member, plays Schroeder. He works at the Maine National Guard Recruiting office in Topsham and plans to study vocal performance at college this fall.
Snoopy is played by James Kramlich of Raymond, and playing the role of Linus is Andre Demers of Portland.
Musical numbers include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,” “Little Known Facts,” “Suppertime” and “Happiness.”
Shows will be at 7 p.m. all dates, with additional 2 p.m. performances on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27. Tickets, $15, are sold in advance because seating is limited. Call 590-7276. Studio 48 PAC is at 20 Davis St.
