AUBURN — Annie Belanger, 83, a resident of East Jay Road, Jay, died Monday, Aug. 15, surrounded by her family, at Hospice House of Androscoggin.

She was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Archie and Dorothy (Davis) King. Annie attended school in Livermore Falls. She married Robert “Gus” Hebert and they had five children. On July 29, 1978, she married Wilfred “Gene” Belanger Jr. of Jay.

Annie had worked at the Bean Shop and Ben’s Diner, both in Livermore Falls, Foster Manufacturing in Wilton, Dot Hunt’s Catering in Livermore Falls, Pantry Pride Bakery in Winthrop and looked forward each year to the fair circuit, where she worked for the King Family Cook House. Annie was known as the “pie lady” making hundreds of pies each year. Annie was an extraordinary cook and the family always looked forward to her strawberry shortcake and blueberry pie each year from the fresh berries she had picked.

Annie enjoyed “Bingo” and you could usually find her anywhere there was a bingo hall. Annie loved family gatherings, playing cards, trips with her sisters and daughter and Sunday rides with her husband, Gene. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gene Belanger of Jay; her daughter, Mary Ann Barker and her husband, Bob, of Jay; her three sons, Bill Hebert of Jay, Steve Hebert and his companion, Josephine Ridlon, of Jay and Palmer Hebert and his wife, Kelli, of Livermore Falls; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Wilson of Peru; her brother, Ernest “Nookie” King of Livermore Falls; good friend, Donna Baker of Island Falls; sister-in-law, Janice Brelsford and husband, Tony, of Waterville; her brother-in-law, Carl Goding of Livermore Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Philip Hebert; her mother and father-in-law, Wilfred and Gertrude Belanger; her sisters, Winona Beckler, Madeline Goding, Beverly Nichols, Dot Hunt, Etta “Diddy” Cox and infant sister, Abbie King; and her brothers, Archie King Jr. and Palmer King.
