JAY — A free seminar on planning one’s Catholic funeral, offered by Maine Catholic Cemeteries, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, May 15, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St.
The seminar will also provide information about details on Catholic cemeteries in Maine, church teaching on cremation, and the many benefits of pre-planning.
“The loss of a loved one is never easy. It is why planning ahead is one of the most loving and responsible things you can do for your family,” said Jessica Letendre, director of Maine Catholic Cemeteries, according to a news release from Dave Guthro, communications director, Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. “Our goal is to provide you with unwavering support, education, and resources to keep you strong and to ease your stress throughout the entire process. With our assistance, in planning for your family’s cemetery needs, you can provide peace of mind to yourself and your loved ones.”
Seminars also will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Holy Martyrs of North America Church, 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth, and at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at Deering Pavilion, 880 Forest Ave. in Portland.
