SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Gloria Emily (Lamkin) Wiles, 79, formerly of Farmington, passed away on Aug. 12, at home, surrounded by her children, following a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 11, 1932, in Farmington, the daughter of Elwin and Emily Lamkin.
She attended Westbrook Junior College and the University of Maine, Orono, receiving her degree in legal stenography and bookkeeping. Gloria lived and raised her family in Monticello, N.Y., for 35 years, before moving back to Farmington to care for her parents.
She was employed at the Concord Hotel at the front desk while Charlie worked the front door. After this time, she was employed by Jerry Andrews CPA, where she worked as a bookkeeper and Schachnovsky Plumbing in Kiameshia Lake as an accountant. She recently moved to Santa Rose to be near her daughter, Sharon.
Gloria enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren; she especially enjoyed spending time in New Harbor, where her family vacation roots were well planted. Her other interests included walking the beaches in Hawaii, seeing shows in Las Vegas and spending time with her dogs.
She is survived by her children, Shawn Wiles and his wife, Lisa, of Woodridge, N.Y., Kevin Wiles of Fresno, Calif., and Sharon Wiles and her husband, Steve Palladino, of Santa Rosa; five grandchildren, Whitney, Keegan, Brody, Samantha and Shannon; and two siblings, Glenda Edwards of Cortez, Fla., and Walter Lamkin of Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was predeceased by her loving husband and soul mate of 38 years, Charles Robert Wiles.
Tributes and condolences may be shared with her family on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
