Breaking news — “Corporations are people.” And the media made fun of that statement for days because so many Americans were being swayed by the talking heads of TV and radio, journalists and sound bites that they failed to examine the facts.

My response after I heard that statement was, “Duh.”

I vote annually at all the meetings of corporations in which I have stock. I invest in those that meet my morals and goals in life and whose people meet my criteria.

I receive stock dividends and, yes, lose money in bad corporation (run by people) investments.

The Sun Journal editorial on Aug. 19, “An unfortunate truth will haunt Mitt Romney,” was spot-on in examining this dilemma, except for the headline. Why should a politician, who is finally telling the truth and even educating the uninformed, be haunted for providing insight into what makes up a corporation?

Yes, corporations are people. Are we trying to change the truth because it is unpopular? I certainly hope people will demand the truth.

The electorate needs to become better educated and investigate email stories flying around the Internet, and sound bites and talking points circulated by pundits working on our minds.

People should speak out, form their own opinions and get involved in finding and telling the truth and assembling facts on the issues facing this country in these troubling times.
