CORVALLIS, Ore. – Bernard J. Maurais, 86, a resident of Corvallis, Ore., passed away at his home on May 8, 2023.

He was born Sept. 6, 1936 in Jay, the fifth son of Amedee G. Maurais and Leonie (St. Pierre) Maurais. He attended St. Rose of Lima parochial school in Jay and following his graduation from St. Francis High School in Biddeford, he served four years in the United States Air Force. Subsequently, he attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He was an electrical engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Matthew; and sisters Aline (Raymond) Bryant of Jay, and Rachel (Marvin) Ellis of Oklahoma, sisters-in-law Elaine (Jean Paul), Gisele (Henri), Julie (Amedee); numerous nieces, nephews; and many grand-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers (and spouse) Gerard (Lorraine), Jean Paul, Henri, Amedee, and sisters (and spouses) Germaine (Cliff) Swenson, Adrienne (William) Kelley, Marcelle (John) Kendall.

Graveside services were held May 19 at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Corvallis, Ore.
