LIVERMORE FALLS — The Police Department’s operating-under-the-influence checkpoint Friday night netted six arrests, three of them on charges of OUI, Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

Police held the roadblock between 8 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday near the Fire Station on Park Street, he said. About 330 vehicles were stopped, he said.

Three arrests were on other violations, Steward said.

Livermore Falls police and other law enforcement agencies received grants this year to do impaired driving checks.

Jay Police Department also held an OUI roadblock Friday night on both Route 133 and Route 4. Police had at least two OUI arrests, police secretary Donna Ladd said.

Sgt. Troy Young who handled the checkpoints was unavailable for comment.
