Wright-Pierce announced 12 recipients of the company’s 2011 Student Scholarship program. This year’s recipients, students of engineers and support staff at five of the firm’s eight New England offices, are Anne Obery, Jack Obery, Olivia Welch, Dylan Pinnette, Eric Short, Jessica Bourget, Eva Glidden, Eben Musich, Alexandra Bowen, Samuel Hewitt, Katelin Strohm and Samuel Hallowell.

The Wright-Pierce Student Scholarship program was initiated 49 years ago to honor the sons and daughters of Wright-Pierce employees for academic achievement. Since 1962, the scholarships have been awarded to more than 200 students.

Among the 12 recipients, the following eight are from the Central Maine region:

Jack Obery is beginning his senior year at University of Maine, Orono, where he is a psychology major. He worked this summer at Pine Tree Frosty in Rangeley.

Anne Obery will be a sophomore at the University of Maine, Orono, where she is an education major. She worked this summer at the Dairy Queen in Topsham. They are the children of Kevin and Jan Obery. Kevin is a civil engineer and project manager in the Topsham office. The Oberys live in Topsham.

Dylan Pinnette will begin his senior year at Worcester Polytechnic Institute this fall where he is majoring in biomedical engineering. Dylan is involved in the WPI debate team and the Philosophical Society. He is the son of Jeff Pinnette, a senior project manager in the firm’s Wastewater Practice Group, and Ann Pinnette. Dylan resides in Topsham.

Olivia Welch begins her senior year this fall as a student at Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass., where she is majoring in Russian and international relations. She is involved in the Russian Club and is a student director of the Student Program for Urban Development program. This summer she worked as an intern at the American Red Cross of Greater New York in New York City. She is the daughter of Susan O’Connor, who works in the marketing department at Wright-Pierce, and Michael Welch of Auburn.

Jessica Bourget begins her senior year at Bennington College where she is a psychology major. Jessica worked in the Bennington College Career Development office this summer. She is the daughter of Richard and Jennifer Bourget of Bowdoinham. Richard works in the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Practice Group at Wright-Pierce.

Eben Musich is beginning his junior year at the University of Vermont where he is a student in the community and international development program. He is the son of Elaine and Jeff Musich of Winthrop. Jeff is vice president and principal-in-charge of the Water Engineering Division in the Topsham office.

Eva Glidden begins her junior year this fall at Lyndon College. Her major is atmospheric science. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. She is the daughter of Dan, an electrical engineer in the Building Design Services Group, and Linda Glidden. The Gliddens reside in Gardiner.

Eric Short is entering his sophomore year at Southern Maine Community College where he has a 4.0 grade point average as a computer technology major. He is the son of Herb, a senior electrical engineer in the Topsham office’s Building Design Services Group, and Cynthia Harwood.

Founded in 1947, Wright-Pierce is employee-owned and has a staff of approximately 175 engineers and support professionals located in eight offices throughout New England.
