PARIS — The Oxford County Superior Courtroom is on track to reopen next week after being repainted.
“It’ll be close, but they’re on track,” County Administrator Scott Cole said Wednesday of the painters.
When court employees return to the second floor room on Western Avenue, they’ll find the room painted a bright white rather than the former pale green.
The “Code of Justinian” mural remains on the wall behind the judge’s bench.
Work on the courtroom began in July. Contractor John Ronan of Rumford repainted the room and replaced two large ceiling panels, where boards showed through clear plastic. The old panels were removed when the roof started leaking. The courthouse roof was repaired earlier in the summer.
Cole called the work “long overdue.” The county and state split the cost of repairs.
Over the summer, Superior Court has been held in 11th District Court next door.
