Muriel A. Littlehale
LANCASTER, N.H. – Muriel A. Littlehale, 92, of Lancaster, N.H., formerly of Wilson’s Mills, passed away on July 8, 2023. She was one of nine siblings born in Dummer, N.H. on April 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Owen and Lois (Young) Hawkins. After graduating from Berlin High School, Muriel went right to work, she loved to stay busy, starting her first job at Ware Knitters and then working for her sister, Barbara, in Plymouth, N.H.
Muriel found the love of her life, Norman R. Littlehale, and married in 1953. They resided in Wilson’s Mills where they worked side by side, day in and day out. Muriel loved to tend her big gardens, bake, can vegetables, and make homemade root beer. Muriel was also a big part of the community, from driving the local school bus (car), organizing the winter carnivals for the local kids, maintaining the church inside and out, and helping write the history book.
In 1976, Norman and Muriel started Asizcoos Valley Campground. Together, the two of them ran the campground for 40 years. Muriel was the hardest worker and never complained.
The family includes her husband of 70 years, Norman R. Littlehale; two daughters, Emily Staley, former son-in-law, Frank Staley and Angela Bennett, husband Warren; grandson, Nicholas Staley, wife Melanie, all of Lancaster, N.H.; great-grandchildren Owen (22), Austin (20) and Lila (16) Staley; surviving sibling, Ruth Testa of Milan, N.H.; many nieces, nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 14 at 11 a.m. at the Spaulding Memorial Church, Route 16, Wilson’s Mills, followed by a gathering at the town hall.
