Alma W. Fisher

LEWISTON – Alma W. Fisher, 92, of Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 with family by her side.

Alma was born on April 14, 1931, a daughter to Ralph Sr. and Mildred (Ashton) Winslow. She was born and raised in Sabattus and attended Sabattus schools. She enjoyed playing basketball in elementary school and graduated from Sabattus High School in 1949. After high school, Alma began teaching Bible Study at the Sabattus Community Baptist Church. She was also a proud Girl Scout leader.

On December 29, 1956, she married the love of her life Asa W. Fisher, who she met while dancing at a local schoolhouse.

In her working years, Alma worked at Webster Rubber, where she was a shoe sole cutter. Soon after, she became very involved in the family farm. She could always be found milking her cows, feeding calves, raking hay in the fields, tending to her gardens or talking on the CB “Blue Fish”. Alma was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is predeceased by her parents Ralph Sr. and Mildred Winslow, her loving husband Asa Fisher, her grandson Asa Fisher, sister-in-laws Ruth Fisher and Helen Jones as well as her brothers Ralph “Leon” Winslow and Hollis Winslow.

She will be greatly missed by her special friend and long time caretaker Brenda Kennedy.

Alma leaves behind her children Rebekah and husband Martin Lane of New Vineyard, Alden and wife Lisa Fisher of Sabattus, her grandchildren Sarah and husband Jeff Rowe, Jamie and wife Missy Lane, Cassie and husband Jake Hanscom, Amie and husband Jake Ouellette, April Fisher and partner Tysen Wyman, Carmen Fisher and husband Gerry Poliquin. Alma also leaves behind her great grandchildren Mason, Nicholas, Alyssa, Parker, Khloe, Gage, Iris, Jacob, Kellee, Kaden, Jaxson, Aaliyah and Emma.

Last but not least, she leaves behind her best friend – Lipstick!

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Montello Manor for the wonderful care given to Alma.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20 from 10AM to 11AM at Crosman Funeral Home. An in house funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 20 at 11AM at Crosman Funeral Home, followed by committal prayers at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus.
