Donald Eugene Bickford

AUGUSTA – Donald Eugene Bickford, 91, passed away at the Togus VA Hospice Center on May 14, 2023. He was born May 3, 1932, a son of George and Mary (Davis) Bickford.

Following high school, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 21 years with two tours in Vietnam and retiring in Dayton, Ohio at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1972. After his career in the Air Force, Donald was employed at Digital Equipment and retired after 18 years of employment.

Donald, self-nicknamed “Grump”, enjoyed bowling, fishing, oil painting, playing cribbage, and visiting with friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents; and all of his siblings, Byron Bickford, Geraldine Lachance, Virginia Dyer, and Shirley King.

Donald is survived by his son, Donald M. Bickford, his wife Connie; and grandsons Joshua and Dylan Bickford, all of Florida.

A graveside service will be held on July 28, at 12 p.m. at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd. in Augusta. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Condolences, stories and photos may be shared by visiting http://www.plummerfh.com.
