Morris Edward Tucker
SOUTH PARIS – Morris Edward Tucker, 95, of Sumner went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2023.
He was born in Turner, Maine, on Nov. 12, 1927, son of Nelson and Bertha (Barrows) Tucker.
Morris was a graduate of Buckfield High School in 1945 where he loved sports, played quarterback and 1st baseman. After graduating in 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Colby, enjoying 53 years of marriage before her passing in 1998. He later married Lolita Jack Hardy in 2001.
Morris enlisted in 1945 and was honorable discharged in 1947 as a Corporal, 3704th Army Air Force Military Police. He was a Master Electrician, employed by Kerr Electric, E.S.Boulos, and Fischback and Moore, supervising on major projects at Maine Yankee, Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, Maine Medical Center and Augusta Civic Center, as well as many additional paper plants. He received his IBEW 65th year celebration in 2012.
Morris was raised to the sublime degree of a Mason in 1955 and was a Past Master and long time treasurer of the Evening Star Lodge #147. He was a 50-year-plus member of the Valley of the Androscoggin Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and a 50-year member of the order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Buckfield Community Church for over 60 years where he served as past deacon, treasurer and trustee. He was also a 75 plus year Maine Grange member of the North Buckfield Grange #45.
Morris owned and operated MET Oil Business, enjoyed carpentry and wood working, giving generously of his time and talents on repairs for the Masonic Hall and the Buckfield Church, as well as furniture making for his family.
Morris loved his camp on Bear Pond in Turner, where he enjoyed boating, waterskiing, miniature golf and horse shoes. His favorite sports were golfing, bowling and playing pool with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Lolita Tucker of Livermore Falls; his children, Carol Perry and husband Don of Hartford; Vickie (Ross) Wilcox and husband Ted of Lyman; Lorraine Oja and husband Jake of Danforth; Sheryl Blank and husband Paul (Mike) of Sumner; His grandchildren, Guy Perry, Amy Beaucage, Nathan Ross and Jessica Goodman, Mark and Kayla Ross, Tonja and Eric Jacobs, Jacob and Michelle Oja, Jill Blank and Tony Mason, Benjamin Blank, and his 11 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hillary, Hailey, Dan, Matthew, Seneca, Siana, Liam, Ella, Brynlee, Charles, and three great-great-grandchildren, Liam, Lakelynn, Lianna; as well as his step-children, Debra Hardy Timberlake, Rhonda Hardy, Jack and Kathy Hardy, six step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Cynthia Tucker, Esther Tucker and Eleanor Austin.
Morris was predeceased by his parents Nelson and Bertha Tucker, wife Elizabeth (Betty) Colby, brothers Erland and James Tucker, sisters Connie White Hicks and Catherine Pratt and son-in-law Neil Ross.
The Tucker family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff and employees of the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, Beacon Hospice Care and Elite Home Health Care for their dedication and compassion. He had so many favorites and loved them all.
