AREA — The Community Lakes Association (CLA) is holding its annual meeting and election of officers at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, at the old Greenwood Town Hall on Route 26 (next to the Greenwood Post Office). The guest speaker is Game Warden Sarah Miller of the Maine Warden’s Service. Sarah’s presentations will cover issues that affect our environment, such as headway speed on our ponds, signage, local lakes regulations, and permitting.
The CLA’s mission is ‘to protect and improve the ecosystems of our lakes and ponds and promote respectful stewardship among all users of the waterways in Greenwood and Woodstock.’

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
