TURNER — Authorities are releasing little information on a fatal crash early Sunday morning in Turner.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies were called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash at 2:50 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Center Bridge Road and Back Cove. Upon arrival, investigators found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and discovered the remains of a body inside.

A news release issued by the department reported that although a tentative identification of the driver has been made, investigators are not releasing the name of the victim until an identity has been confirmed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office and family has been notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The sheriff’s department is being assisted by the Maine State Police in reconstructing the crash.
