LEWISTON — Three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl champion, former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi, recently paid a visit to the Cancer Care Center at Central Maine Medical Center.
He met with patients and staff, allowing them to wear his many championship rings and pose for photos.
Andruzzi, a cancer survivor himself, is the leader of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families, as well as funding pediatric brain cancer research.
“What a thrill it was to have Joe here at the Cancer Care Center,” said Hector Tarraza, chief of Central Maine Healthcare’s Oncology Institute, according to a news release from Central Maine Healthcare. “He was a hero on the field for Patriots fans during his playing days, and his heroics continue off the field in his work on behalf of cancer patients. We are all so grateful he took the time to pay us a visit and spend time with our patients.”
