Beekeepers
MEXICO — Western Maine Beekeepers Association will present a slide show and talk by State Apiarist Tony Jadczak on getting hives ready for winter. The class will be on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Region 9 School, Route 2.
Beekeepers need to properly prepare their hives for winter to ensure survival. This class will cover the latest treatments for pests and diseases as well as tips and techniques for getting hives through the winter.
All area beekeepers are invited to attend the free presentation.

VFW Sept. 11
NORWAY — The Auxiliary Ladies of the Legion and the VFW will join in remembrance of Sept. 11 from 8:55 to 10 a.m. across from the Norway Legion.
All are invited to wear red, white and blue if possible and bring a flag to wave.
MS ride/walk
PARIS — The Arnold Dugmore Ride/Walk for MS will be held Sunday, Sept. 11. The ride will begin at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m.. The walk will begin at 11 a.m., with registration starting at 10:30.
The fee for the ride is $25 and for the walk $10. This fee includes a T-shirt, gift bag and a cookout. Blues man Kevin Kimball will perform. The cookout will be from 2 to 5 p.m. This event will take place at the Smilin’ Moose in South Paris.

World’s Fair meeting
WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will hold their annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the fairgrounds located on Green Road (across from Melby’s Market) in North Waterford.
At this meeting three directors will be voted on and the slate of officers will be chosen. All members and directors as well as anyone who might be interested in becoming a member of the fair are encouraged to attend to learn more about all the plans and events that will be taking place at the fairgrounds in the coming months. The last dance of the season will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at the dance hall on the fairgrounds. The band will be Monsta from the Rumford area. Food pantry
OTISFIELD — The Food Pantry will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121. Nature Club trip
PARIS — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, in the parking lot north of Rite Aid and car pool to Castle in the Clouds, Moultonborough, N.H. Visitors are welcome. Supper dance
LOCKE MILLS — A Supper Dance will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the American Legion Hall. Doors open at 4. Music by the Jones Band.
Supper by the Auxiliary will feature beans, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, salads, biscuits and pies. The cost is $10 for adults, and $3 for children.
Heywood Club
NORWAY — The Heywood Club of Norway will resume monthly meetings after the summer break. The next meeting will be at the clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, instead of the regular Monday meeting night.
Special speakers will be Chris and Dennis Yates, who do scuba diving and will show and explain some of their findings in Norway Lake. Members can invite anyone who might be interested to join.
The meeting will include a report of the annual public supper, plans for next month’s meeting and catching up on neighborhood news. Club dues of $10 are due in September. For more information, contact Evy Marshall at 743-8030.
Lunch, social
OTISFIELD — The second Otisfield Community Lunch & Social will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121. Participants are invited to think of questions for the Otisfield Trivia game.
It came to the group’s attention that some people thought that the donations for the Lunch & Social were to go to the Community Hall for restorations. The group apologizes for any confusion and on behalf of those who gave donations at the first Lunch & Social, the $73.04 collected will go toward that project. However, all future donations at the luncheons will be used to help defray costs of the luncheons and support future luncheons.
Grief support
WILTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice will offer fall grief support throughout the Lewiston-Auburn, Norway, Bridgton and Farmington-Wilton areas.
The program for Grieving Children and Teens will be held in Lewiston beginning Sept. 20 and in Wilton beginning Sept. 15. Please call 795-9462 to preregister.
Guidance through Grief, an adult grief support group in Lewiston, will begin on Sept. 20 with two offerings, one from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and one from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Pathways through Grief, offered in the Norway and Bridgton areas, will begin both groups on Sept. 21.
