GREENE — Directors of Maine School Administrative District 52 on Thursday unanimously approved Superintendent Cari Medd’s recommendation to hire Shannon Bartash as principal at Leeds Central School.
The assistant principal at Lisbon Community School will begin her new job Oct. 2.
Medd advised directors that Bartash received good recommendations from the Lisbon school. She also highlighted Bartash’s work with students with behavioral challenges and her work to build behavior interventions.
“I said at the beginning of this process, we only need one right candidate … and we feel like we’ve got the right one, right candidate,” she said.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
