BETHEL — Oxford Selectman Sharon Jackson, who has extensive experience in municipal government, has been chosen as interim town manager and tax collector.
Jackson retired in July 2019 after 10 years as town manager of Fryeburg. Before that she was town manager in Paris for nearly five years and finance director and interim town manager twice in Oxford.
She said she has done a few bookkeeping contracting jobs in various towns since 2019.
She was elected to the Oxford board in 2019 and reelected in 2022. Her current term expires in 2025.
Jackson stressed she would strictly be the interim manager and would not pursue the position permanently.
The Select Board announced its decision Sept. 18.
Finance Director Amy Hanscom confirmed Jackson’s pay is $75 per hour.
Board Chairwoman Meryl Kelly said Jackson would not receive benefits.
Jackson succeeds Natalie Andrews of West Paris, who resigned Aug. 8 citing a lack of cohesive support from the Select Board. She had held the position less than a year.
