COUNTY — Are you interested in improving the health of your forest? Join us Sunday, November 5 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Tenmile River Demonstration Forest in Brownfield to go over the basics and get your questions answered! Maine Forest Service District Forester Mike Richard will teach us about best practices with timber stand improvement and pruning. Participants will also learn about cost-share opportunities, tools, and other topics. There will be a mixture of walking, talking, and potentially practicing with hand tools.
Registration can be found on the OCSWCD website at oxfordcountyswcd.org/workshops/. This workshop is free, but registration is required. Please register no later than Friday, November 3.
There will also be a Tree Identification Walk with the Forest Service on the Bethel Pathway on Route 2 in Bethel on Friday, October 6 from 3-4 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
