PARIS — The program at the Sept. 21 meeting of the Paris Cape Historical Society was provided by Randy Bennett, the retired executive director of the Bethel Historical Society, who did a presentation on the recently established Hastings Homestead Museum in Bethel.
he museum features a house, built in 1822, that has been occupied successively by five generations of the same family. Over the past 200 years, family members saved and preserved many historical artifacts in the home and barn, providing a long view of local history. Randy is the volunteer operations manager for the museum project. He is shown here at far right, with a photo of the house on the screen. PCHS will hold an Open House at its 77 High Street, South Paris, location on Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. The public can tour the museum and view its artifacts and many photos. Refreshments will be provided. There will also be tickets available for a raffle for a cord of firewood, with proceeds benefiting the work of PCHS.
