Melissa “Missy” Twist
MECHANIC FALLS – Melissa “Missy” Twist, formerly Melissa Lally Parsons, passed away at home in Mechanic Falls on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023.
Missy loved life and although she is gone from this earth far too soon, she filled her years here with plenty of it. She loved children. She was the mother of Zach and Ella Parsons along with the stepmother of Courtney Twist.
For years, she cared for countless children while working at Wilsondale Country Care in Gray, Maine. She would later work at Briarwood Children’s House in Lyman, Maine.
In 2011, she would meet her eventual husband Michael Twist. Together, they founded Twist Family Motors of Cumberland, Maine. Missy served as the General Manager of the dealership and made many friends there thanks to her warm personality. After the business closed, she used that same disposition to become a successful ride share driver in Boston with over 10,000 rides and a near five-star rating. Her favorite shift was overnights and she grew to love Boston and all of its charms – especially during times that others might be asleep for.
2022 was a big year for Missy and her family. They moved back to Maine from the Boston area where she settled into a new family home with Yankee Candles usually burning and dozens of family photos lining the walls. Even as she struggled with health issues, Missy filled that home with love and character. On a snowy New England day in December, Missy and Michael got married in an intimate ceremony in Ipswich, Mass. with family and friends there to share the day.
Missy enjoyed writing poetry, spending time at home while also traveling throughout New England with her family and helping to care for Spot and Gronk – the family dogs.
Missy is survived by her husband Michael Twist; daughters Ella Parsons of Mechanic Falls and Courtney Twist of Malden, Mass., son Zachary Parsons of New Gloucester; father Michael Lally and stepmother Lisa Vasiliauskas Lally of Auburn, mother Susan Lally and stepfather Russell Levesque of Calibou; sisters Jennifer Lally of New Gloucester and Jamie Lally, soul sister Erin Maschino; as well as several nieces and nephews and countless devoted friends.
There will be a celebration of Missy’s life on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal Street in Mechanic Falls, Maine. To make an online condolence please visit http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
