Lawrence W. Harvie Sr
LIVERMORE FALLS – Lawrence W. Harvie Sr., 88, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, in Lewiston, at CMMC following a brief illness. He was born May 20, 1935, in North Anson, the son of Fredrick E. Harvie and Florence (Cushing) Harvie. He was a 1953 graduate of Madison High School.
On March 6, 1955, he married Sandra (Whittemore) Harvie. Lawrence worked as a millwright at International Paper Company in Jay, also as a welder for Bath Iron Works. Lawrence served as a selectman for the Town of Livermore Falls for several terms. He was a member of the Northern Star Masonic Lodge in North Anson and Past Master of the Oriental Star # 21 in Livermore and had also served as Past District Deputy Grand Master of 20th Masonic District.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at Cathedral Pines. His son Larry Jr, who had Cerebral Palsy (CP), was able to live a normal life due to all the love, hard work and determination provided by Sandra and Lawrence, Sr.
He is survived by his daughter Shannon Staples and husband Bob of Jay, son Patrick Harvie of Standish; sister Beatrice Knight of Orrington; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents; wife; son Lawrence Harvie Jr.; brother Robert Harvie, three sisters Dorothy Ogden, Pricilla Ross, and Judy Stetson.
