Patrick “Sonny” Louis Hebert

FARMINGTON – Patrick “Sonny” Louis Hebert, 92, a resident of Jay, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1931, in Livermore Falls, the son of Patrick Hebert, Sr., and Olive (Labbe) Hebert. He was a 1951 graduate of Livermore Falls High School, where he was a star athlete in baseball and basketball. His basketball team won the Maine State Championship in 1951. On Oct. 23, 1954, in Bangor he married Barbara “Joyce” Stewart. They enjoyed 66 years together before her passing on July 4, 2021. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He worked at Norwalk Shoe and later retired as a finishing department superintendent from International Paper Company in Jay. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, and member of the International Paper Company Quarter Century Club. Sonny enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, dancing at the V.F.W. in Jay, going to the coast and traveling. He was a super fan of Livermore Falls High School and Jay High School sports, and avid follower of Spruce Mountain Phoenix. He is survived by his beloved Godson, Brian Brewer and partner Marguerite Davis of Jay, and Godson, Doug Ferland and wife Jill of Jay; nephews, Fred Abbott and Jeffrey Hebert and niece, Cindy Hebert. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, February 3, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Interment with military honors will be held in the spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 100 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls, Maine.
