WHEATON, Ill. — William “Billy” Colasante, a biology major at Wheaton College, Class of 2012, fulfilled a summer internship opportunity at Central Maine Orthopaedics in Auburn.  In this role, Colasante had the opportunity to shadow many different doctors in the clinic and observe patients’ treatments, including surgery and follow up appointments.

The Community Scholars program recognizes students who demonstrate both strong academic performance and an ongoing commitment to community service and/or leadership. Community Scholars each receive a scholarship and a one-time stipend to support community service, internships or research opportunities. The stipend is available for experiences during the summer of either the sophomore or junior year. Each of these scholarship awards is renewable annually upon the achievement of at least a 3.0 GPA.

Colasante is the son of Paul Colasante and Cathy McDonald of Lewiston. He is a 2008 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School in Auburn.
