Emma Giroux

RUMFORD – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Emma Giroux, at the Rumford Community Home. She was a resident of Swain Road in Rumford.

Emma was born in East Andover on Feb. 28, 1932, and was a daughter of Isaac Fulton and Anna Mable (May) White. She came from a family of 14. She was very proud of growing up on Farmer’s Hill Road and well known for her baked beans, potato salad and salmon pie. She enjoyed word search games, cooking and her flower gardens.

Emma was married for 41 years to Edward “Bizo” Giroux who died in Portland on Feb. 15, 1994.

She is survived by her sons Gary and wife Teresa of Laurel, Md., Louis and wife Deborah of Baltimore, Vt., Frances Vargas of Byron and Pamela Sharkey of Rumford; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Juliette Salatino of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her husband; and seven brothers and five sisters.

The family would like to thank you to Norway Center and Rehab as well as the Rumford Community Home for their care and kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday June 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment will be in the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, 12 p.m. on Monday June 10.
