Christine Sabin

FARMINGTON – Today, Feb. 26, 2024, we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Christine Sabin. She passed peacefully, after a brief illness, and several years living with dementia. She was born May 8, 1952, to Lucien and Evelina Chabot, joining her three brothers and sister. She grew up in Livermore Falls, attending St. Rose of Lima, then graduating from Livermore Falls High School.

After graduation, she married Danny Newcomb, and together they had two children. Living in Wilton, she opened her own in-home daycare. Lovingly raising her children, and caring for others, was natural for her. She enjoyed being creative and making the most out of what she was given. As time moved on, she began her career as a proud shoemaker. She worked for GH Bass in Wilton until it closed, then continued her career at New Balance in Norridgewock, where she worked until her retirement.

In 1991, she married the love of her life, Steven Sabin of Wilton, and gained three more children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of one.

She spent so many happy years with Steve, and he jokingly (or seriously) says they never had an argument! With determination and hard work, they made their house into a home. They enjoyed time spent with special friends, cross-country skiing, taking trips to New Hampshire, and watching their grandchildren’s sports and performances.

She loved landscaping, making walking paths in the woods and designing beautiful flower gardens. She created a “little piece of heaven” as she lovingly called it.

She was predeceased by her mother Evelina Caron, father Lucien Chabot, sister Simone Welch, brother-in-law Eddie Welch, stepfather Wilfred Caron, sister-in-law Louise Chabot, stepson Paul Sabin, and stepdaughter Kelly Sabin.

She leaves behind her husband Steven Sabin, three brothers: Louis Chabot, Raymond (Sherry) Chabot, and Normand (Evelyn) Chabot.

Her humor and love will always be remembered by her son Shawn (Melissa) Newcomb, daughter Cindy Soucy, stepdaughter Janice Sabin, grandchildren Alyssa Newcomb, Owen Soucy, Alex Soucy, Bradley Jackson, Darby Sabin, a great-grandson Jaedyn, many nieces and a nephew.

Thank you to Woodlands Senior Living of Farmington- Memory Care for the love that was shown to our mother. May her memory live on with you, and always bring a smile to your face.

There will be no funeral service. A gathering for visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
