AUBURN — Former political canvasser Jessica Larlee of 15 Willow St. has declared herself a write-in candidates for the Ward 3 City Council seat.

In a written statement, Larlee said her experience collecting signatures for petitions has given her a unique perspective.

“I understand the will and desires of the people and therefore feel called to serve them,” Larlee said. “I believe in a clean environment, equality, the Constitution and God.”

She will face Mary LaFontaine of 113 Western Ave. for the seat currently held by Dan Herrick. LaFontaine’s name will appear on the ballot; Larlee’s will not. Ward 3 residents will have to write her name and address on the ballot and fill in the bubble to vote for her.

Larlee said she’s in favor of legalizing marijuana for religious purposes.

“On a city level, I think the police should put more resources into ending child abuse and should be prevented from the discriminatory practice of hippie profiling which is illegal in some parts of California,” she wrote.
