SOUTH PARIS – Marjorie W. Baird, 92, of South Paris, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at Market Square Health Care Center.

She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 18, 1931, a daughter of Harlan and Josephine Jewell Washburn. She graduated from Paris High School and in her younger years, lived at the YWCA in Portland and worked at Campbell’s Book store where she met her future husband, Thomas Baird.

While in Portland she attended the Portland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and bible study. She and Tom came back to South Paris where she was actively involved in the Paris Hill Bible Church now known as Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Joyce Baird of Bancroft, Wis.; two grandsons, David and his wife Lynn and Timothy, all of Bancroft. Wis.; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Deborah Lucci and her husband Michael of Windham, N.H., a nephew, Michael Washburn of Burlington, Vt.; her dear friend, Dottie Tibbetts of South Paris.

She was predeceased by her husband, Tom; son, Peter; and her baby brother.

The family would like to thank Seniors plus and all those who helped Marjorie in recent years.

Family and friends may attend a memorial service on Sunday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 398 Paris Hill Rd., South Paris. Interment will be later in the spring at Buckfield Village Cemetery.
