LEWISTON — Typically Rev. Douglas and Sonia Taylor, the directors of the Jesus Party, provide services for inner-city children. However the ministry is opening its doors to friends, supporters and anyone in the community who may be interested. The Taylors are calling these special events “A Time To Refocus” and will go for four consecutive weeks. The Christian gatherings will be held at the ministry’s headquarters, 291 Bates St., and will consist of fellowship, food and a thought provoking film that is intended for an adult audience. Exceptions will be made for teenagers accompanied by an adult.

* On Friday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m., the ministry will tackle the serious issue of human trafficking. An 83-minute documentary titled “Not For Sale” will be shown. The documentary is based on David Batstone’s book by the same name. It covers what modern-day abolitionists are doing to fight the rampant terrors of human trafficking in the United States and abroad.

* On Saturday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m., a special pro-life film titled, “180 Movie: to abort or not to abort,” will be shown. The 33-minute film is not graphic but produced with passion and is intellectually gripping. It presents the viewer with a perspective on abortion that speaks directly to the condition of a person’s heart, rather than keeping the topic of abortion at a comfortable, political distance.

* On Saturday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m., a 62-minute video documentary, “A Dairy of Revival, The 1904 Welsh Awakening,” will be shown. The film contains many writings that have never been published before from the actual diaries of the revivalist, Evan Roberts.

* On Saturday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m., the evening will feature an 81-minute documentary titled, “Outpouring of the Holy Spirit.” This film looks at the British Pentecostal movement of 1907. Revival meetings and prayer gatherings began to grow more popular. The documentary focuses on Smith Wigglesworth, an evangelist from West Yorkshire, England. He affected the Pentecostal movement worldwide more than any other individual in the 20th century.
