Jeanne M. Belanger
RUMFORD – Jeanne M. Belanger (née Bastarache) died peacefully at Rumford Community Hospital on April 10, 2024 attended by the caring nurses of the Med/Surg Unit and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Jeanne was born Aug. 28, 1930 in Ste Marie, NB Canada. At the wedding of her sister, Andrea Richard, she was introduced to Wilfred Belanger or Rumford. They married after several years and she moved to Maine to start a family.
She was an excellent homemaker and cook. Jeanne enjoyed her years out at the family camp on Webb Lake. She and Wilfred traveled extensively throughout the globe. Jeanne and Wilfred remodeled their home on Rumford Avenue that had been built in the 1800s.
She enjoyed search word puzzles, playing cards, Swedish weaving, knitting mittens and putting puzzles together.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Wilfred J. Belanger, who passed away last February. Also, Jeanne was predeceased by her eldest brother, Ivan of Chelmsford, Mass. and a sister, Andrea Richard of Rumford.
She leaves behind a brother, Edward Bastarache of Westminster, Mass., a sister, Dorine Melanson of Bouctouche, NB Canada and a sister, Diana Bastarache Saulnier of Wakefield, Mass.; two children, Dale G. Belanger of Portland and Ann M. Macro and her husband Dennis of Harrison; a grandson, Steven Macro and Patrick Macro and his wife Tiffany all of Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 24 at 12 p.m. at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Burial in the Veterans’ Cemetery, 163 Mt Vernon Rd., Augusta will be held on June 10 at 1 p.m.
