100 Years Ago: 1924
Clubs classes or other societies are urged to avail themselves of the service given this summer at Opportunity Farm with special “eats,” according to the season. Strawberries now are plentiful and shortcake or other delicacies may be arranged for, with due notice by telephone. The Management will use proceeds for the building fund, much needed now.
50 Years Ago: 1974
Engines Five, Three, One, Snorkel One, Aerial One and the squad of the Auburn Fire Department went to the first-floor apartment of Herbert E. Marston, 25 Spring St., Thursday night in response to a call for a mattress fire. The firefighters took the mattress out of the building and ventilated the area, using the smoke ejector in the apartment and hallways.
25 Years Ago: 1999
Diane Blanchard has joined The Child Health Center in Auburn as a caseworker for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Established in 1991, Big Brothers Big Sisters is a Child Health Center program that supports children and families in the Lewiston- Auburn area.
