COUNTY — Join Chad Hammer, Invasive Plant Biologist with the Maine Natural Areas Program, to learn about combatting invasive plants. This workshop, coordinated by Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District will be held at the Hiram Arts Center on August 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In this workshop, you’ll learn to identify and combat common invasive plants such as Japanese knotweed, barberry, and bittersweet, that threaten our local ecosystems.
We’ll start with an engaging classroom session to cover the characteristics and impacts of these invaders. Then we will gear up and travel 10 minutes away for some hands-on identification and removal of the plants we have learned about.
This workshop will be a great learning opportunity for those interested in protecting our native ecosystems and making a tangible difference.
