Lawrence P. Stevens

LEWISTON – Lawrence P. Stevens, 88, a resident of Greene, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Lewiston. He was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Lewiston, the son of Lloyd Stevens and Dorothy (Conant) Stevens. He was a graduate from Monmouth Academy, class of 1955. Lawrence proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, 1955 – 1959. On Feb. 4, 1961, in Greene, he married Grace “Eileen” Channell. They were married for a wonderful 56 years until her passing on April 29, 2017. They made their home in Greene, where they raised their daughters, Kelly and Erin. Lawrence was employed at Bates Mill in the design and personnel departments. Lawrence enjoyed painting, he was a well-known artist doing landscapes, seascapes, portraits and animals. He had a passion for art, nature and beauty and was able to capture this in his artwork. Lawrence also painted many signs for local businesses. He also loved going to his camp and boating on Wilson Pond and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Stevens Haskins and husband Kenneth of Auburn, Erin Stevens Foglietta of Turner, two brothers, Walter Stevens and wife Jennifer of Greene, Michael Dearborn and wife Cathy of Turner, one sister, Suzanne O’Connor and husband Eric of Sabattus, three grandsons, Tyler Haskins, Justin Foglietta, and Joshua Foglietta, one great grandson, Kingsley Foglietta and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wei Li Restaurant, 945 Center Street, Auburn, on Sept. 30, 2024, at 4 p.m. His artwork will be on view at the celebration of life. A private burial for the immediate family will take place at Valley Cemetery, Rte. 202, Greene, Maine. Arrangement by BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth.
