Donna L. (Hannon) Palmer
NORTH MONMOUTH – Donna L. (Hannon) Palmer, 85, of North Monmouth, passed away, Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Brunswick, the daughter of Horace Nelson and Barbara (Bailey) Nelson. Donna attended Livermore High School and went on to the University of Farmington for Early Childhood Education. She was the owner and educator at Growing Tree Pre School in Turner for 30 years. On Feb. 17, 1978, in Turner, she married Ernest Hannon. They enjoyed 17 years together before his passing on Sept. 1, 1995. She later married Gervin Palmer on Sept. 2, 1998, in Livermore Falls, he passed June 11, 2017. She enjoyed gardening, painting, golf, riding motorcycles, snowmobiling and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by son Randall Shaffer and wife Jane of Windham, Teri Sherrets and husband Steve of North Monmouth, brothers David Nelson of Washington, and Tom Nelson of Ohio, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husbands Ernest Hannon and Gervin Palmer, and sons Richard and Rusty Shaffer. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., prior to service at the funeral home. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Federal Road, Livermore.
